Leeds Met Degree Show 2010

SOLVING PROBLEMS, DELIVERING SOLUTIONS.

My dissertation, printed and bound.

Soho Shorts Film Festival

A collaborative project with Paul Kennedy to design a poster for a short film festival in Soho. Soho is well known for its film production and red light district. We decided to link the two visually by changing the classic 'GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS' neon sign to 'FILMS FILMS FILMS' to advertise the festival. Ideally produced as an actual neon sign, it still works well on a light box, the cheaper alternative.

Harvey Nichols - Yorkshire Textiles

A collaborative brief to put on an exhibition in the Leeds Harvey Nichols store which celebrated Yorkshire made textiles and the mills which produce them. The main idea that ran throughout this brief was the connection made between Whippets, Yorkshire and the Fashion Industry. To dress whippets in tailored coats made from fine fabrics brought this brief to life. 4 whippets and 17 coats led to the production of 3 films which were projected in store for a number of months. Along with whippet mannequins, a vinyl skyline of the mills and vinyl halftone dogs applied to the balcony. It launched on 14th April 2010.

Scrapbook Productions

I produced an identity for a new film production company, 'Scrapbook Productions'. The logotype is simple and based on a torn page from a scrapbook. This tear is repeated throughout the whole stationery range as a visual representation of the word scrapbook. The company portfolio resembles a scrapbook and leaves space at the back to be 'filled in' by future Scrapbook literature. It also includes stickers as photos rather than printing directly onto the pages.

Austin Mini Engine

Exploration of the mechanical world led me to work with an old Austin Mini engine. It took me back to nostalgic memories of Airfix kits I would make as a child. I had a thought. If we can build miniature model kits, surely we can build there full sized equivalents? By changing the aesthetic of what we recognise as a regular engine, it could be seen as no different to it's model kit equivalent. Maybe we could see flat packed cars available in a supermarket near you soon...

HOW/TO/WIN

By exploring betting data I came up with a theory on how to successfully bet on the football.

City Inn Xmas Tree

The brief was to design a contemporary Christmas tree for the Leeds City Inn Hotel. Leeds Granary Wharf, where the hotel is situated, played a big part in the production and trading of wool during the industrial revolution. Hence this hanging tree is made of wool...and an old bicycle wheel sprayed brown to keep the whole thing together.
